I do it for desk space. I'm  usually reading a book or writing at my desk, plus I have a plant and usually a cup of tea. So I like having a small keyboard I can just push up to the corner of my desk and not worry about it falling off. It's 4 rows, including the numbers, and has insert and delete which is nice, but home and end are function keys which is not very nice. I think I'd go with 5 rows if I were buying a new one--my Thinkpad keyboard is like ideal for me. But I got this magicforce one because it was <$40 iirc.

Hyeah~, looks like the card was DoA. I can't get any sorta output from it via HDMI, even with the correct drivers.

That's fine, though. I've already got a dual boot set up, and trying to use a VR headset with the virtual machine would be a can of worms.

Anyone been following Intel's push to make their own discrete GPUs? I didn't think much of it till I saw the prototype shroud in this article, but it looks like they're very much targeting the low-to-mid-range segment. That's bad news for Team Red, especially pending the release of their mainstream/mobile RX 5500/5500m.

intel's been trying to make dgpus for over a decade now

But I believe they'll actually come out with something sooner or later.
Raja Koduri kinda botched the vega GPU launch tbh, creating super unrealistic expectations so we'll see how he does at intel

I somehow can't really see Intel releasing something as overly hyped as AMD tends to do in the GPU department. I don't expect them to properly compete with AMD at the start, but they'll certainly be giving them a kick up the butt if the first gen units are successful.

It's so interesting to hear about Intel's efforts to produce discrete gpu's. Would be cool to see three giants battling it out in the ring.

Just picked up a pair of 8 gig sticks of RAM, rounding out my DIMM slots with a total of 32. Not too expensive, and well worth my workload of running hyper-accurate simulations.

And by that, I mean simulating all the cool peeps here, and my other friends in a game of RimWorld. ^_^'

Soooo on black friday or cyber monday i'm hoping to get a laptop because I finally need one now. I'll really miss desktops : (
Anyway my budget is around $1k, flexible but it HAS to be able to game. I recently hardly play games but next year Cyberpunk, Halo, and Death Stranding are coming for the PC!

Thinking of this Acer Predator Helios 300. I'm really hoping it goes on sale xD 1660ti will be able to play any game I want!
    https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-...B07QXLFLXT

Is there anything else anyone could suggest to me?
And how is carrying a 5 lb laptop? I don't intend to bring it around with me all the time but idk if I'll need to bring it to my classes yet xD

Perhaps look at some Linus Tech Tips reviews for gaming laptops. I personally don't have much to do with them, I don't play games much nowadays

Like malmon said, Linus Tech Tips does have some really good videos on some decent gaming laptops. I did find a couple of RTX gaming laptops for around 1300, but they're relatively unknown brands (to me, anyways). I went ahead and linked the search results.

As expected, the latency is pretty bad. Seems odd they decided to lauch Stadia with some games that require the minimum possible latencies, especially Thumper. It might be a decent option for the casual gamer who wants to unwind with something slow, but for everyone else it somewhat unideal.

Games as a service is also a bad direction for the joke of an industry to go in. We have Valve to thank for that.

I also hope that everyone has donated to plant trees~

Just nabbed something that's been on my wishlist for months now: A brand-new HAF X. Whereas the case I'm rockin' right now, the XB, is the only case I'll ever need, the X is more like the only case I'll ever want. I'm a huge fan of 2000's-era "gamer" aesthetics, probably because it reminds me of childhood, and the huge number of storage bays is perfect for a data hoarder like me. Only problem is, since it's so massive, I haven't the faintest where I'll put the damn thing. I'm sure I'll figure somethin' out. ^~^
