They cost a pretty penny, but in return you get full individual finger tracking thanks to its array of capacitive sensors. Pretty useless except for VR Chat, but that the whole reasons I got my Vive. ^^

    i think they're also pretty light and well balanced. probably competetive for beat saber.

    I finally upgraded my CPU from a 2200G to a 3600 :)

    You say finally as if it was a long wait :p

    Though it is quite a significant performance bump!

    Lmao you know what, yeah 2 years isn't exactly that long
    Yee, I was gonna nab that $120 2600 Newegg deal, but I was like "well it's only 80 bucks difference"

    Turns out it's the motherboard that's dead. Got the cheapest H81 motherboard on eBay I could find, and it POSTed fine. It even has the coolest POST beep I've ever heard.

    So I think I might try to sell the CPU, and switch to a ryzen setup for the ECC.

    Any links to that motherboard? I'm looking for a cheap one for this old PC I've still got; might fix her up for the hell of it.

    Taking a closer look, it looks like there was a bent pin in the CPU socket. I kinda straightened it out, but it didn't seem to help. Since the motherboard died while in use, I'm guessing that there was some sort of slight short, which caused some other component to fail over the course of some minutes.

    I'd send you mine for free, if you weren't all the way in the states ^_^' Though I was an idiot and managed to bend a pin on that one as well :| But i got it back into shape for the most part, and the board still works fine.

    I'll also be selling most of my Haswell-related things, if anyone's interested:

    * 4x 8GB Kingston HyperX 1866MHz DDR3 RAM
    * 4x 4GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz DDR3 RAM
    * Delidded Intel i7-4770k CPU
    * Dead ASUS Maximus VI Formula Z97 ATX Motherboard (Won't power on with CPU 12V power connected)
    * No-name H81 Motherboard (the one mentioned earlier)
    * Corsair H100i AIO liquid cooler

    I probably wouldn't want to send the motherboards out of the UK - the delivery would likely end up costing too much to be worth it. Unless you really want it, I guess.

    Man, per-key RGB lighting was so worth it. I imagine it's not much use unless you're learning a new programming language, or your game's manual is longer than the Space Shuttle's, but I reckon there's value in the aesthetics.

    I just realised that the images in the one I linked you are wrong. The motherboard is pretty much the same, but I'm pretty sure the one I got has no rear USB 3.0, and some of the connectors are in different places. But I mean, it's a cheap af motherboard, so I didn't really care ^_^'

    So apparently I can't play Destiny 2 until my mobo manufacturer releases their BIOS patch. Oof to all of the other 3000 series users.

    You'd think the motherboard manufacturers would be a bit more prepared this time around

    From what I heard one of the maunfacturers didn't start getting the CPUs until 2 weeks before launch.

    I've been thinking (rather, daydreaming) about building a machine tailor-made for virtualization. Problem is, there's literally zero utility I could imagine for such a thing, save my inspiration of making one PC for two gamers. Maybe I could lend out droplets to friends?

    I think LinusTechTips did a video or a few on this actually. I think it turned out pretty nicely.

    My last-generation i7 really wasn't cutting VR Chat anymore, so I decided to double down and get a Ryzen 7 3800X. I've got high hopes, even despite the peril of AMD's driver support. ^^

    Why would the CPU matter in this case? I would've thought it would be more about the gpu drivers :o

    I thought so too! But apparently VR games use the CPU to calculate what's called "dynamic bones"  - little bits of the character model that determine how an arm bends, a skirt flutters, how hips sashay, et cetera. Lag behind, and you'll start to have framerate drops and "vision loss", which is less than ideal. >_<

    I'm not sure if I'm just imagining things, but Beat Saber for me ran a lot smoother when I upgraded.

    Trying to figure out why my server has stability issues wasn't really helped by the fact that i forgot to plug the GPU cooler in :|

    You know what's funny? Back when I was a wee lad, I remember riding past ye olde hobby shoppe with my mom, and I said regarding our friend's model train collection, "That's dumb, who spends a hundred bucks on a shiny piece of metal?"

    I wonder how fourteen-year-old me would've felt about getting a grand's worth of computer stuff. I suppose we'd only understand if we have the ability to partake.

    I was one of the kids who thought that having a console was so much better than having a PC. Oh, how the times do change indeed. (I still like certain consoles though)

    Been thinking about getting one of those ultra-high capacity WD Reds for my current PC. ~$350 for 12TB is something I could save up for, and the benchmarks for SSHDs don't seem all that promising...

    I've always thought of SSHDs as gimmicks that don't really deliver on either side.
