Figure Photography

I tried the search function and crawled through a few pages of threads to see if one like this existed, but there doesn't appear to be any to my knowledge.

(If there is, please let me know and I'll delete this!)

Anyways, one of my favorite hobbies is digital photography, and I love taking stylistic shots of some of the figures I own. I'm sure there are many individuals on here with itchy shutter fingers, and plenty of lovely figures they'd be happy to show off, so I wanted to create a thread where we could come together and share our talents! (And maybe brag a bit!)

I'll start off with a few of my own, and maybe add some more later on in the week!

Photography skills of all levels are welcome!

Hmm, this last one doesn't look to good blown up - perhaps I'll retake it.

If only I could afford figurines and a good camera...

Since I only have a small amount of disposable income, I've never been able to purchase any figures much less a high quality working camera.

Despite this, I rather enjoy looking at figure photography and I especially liked the shot of Sena, keep up the good work.

So I stopped into the local Barnes & Noble today on the way back from work, and I noticed they had set up a small section for Gundam kits and other anime merchandise. I saw that they had these tiny (I mean like 3" max) little "Gundam Converge" model kits for like $6 a pop, and they looked pretty detailed. I found a Zaku (No.11 in the series) which captured my heart, so I threw it in with my purchase.

Much to my surprise, upon opening the package I found out that mine was purple, despite it being very green on the box. I scoured the internet for bit and didn't find any immediate results, so my wishful thinking has led me to believe that I had a rare one on my hands.

Ah well, I quite like surprises - although I was hoping it'd have the rifle with the neat pan-shaped magazine. Rare or otherwise, I was quite bored, so I took the opportunity to touch it up a bit (and / or ruin it) and refine some of my panel-lining skills. Maybe I'll go back and buy a few more - the fastest way to my heart are little knick-knacks like this, especially Gundam-related stuff.

I think he turned out alright, though. Besides, purple is my favorite color anyways.

Edit: If anyone is curious about the scale, the torso is roughly the size of a US quarter - these guys are super tiny.

Mind if I ask what camera you use to take these photos?

Keep up the good work! I quite like these. They really make want to have figurines of my own.

This one was fun to set up.

I need more Sakura Taisen stuff.

That's a rather odd expression for someone who's about to get her boob touched.

This was clearly business, not pleasure.

    Happy birthday Sonico!!

I accidentally threw away the cane when putting together that magician figure, so a bit of string has pitifully been substituted for it as a rope.

Even saying just before the birth of Christ isn't completely true. Yes there were always prudes in the church ready to condemn them, but these kind of paintings and sculptures were thoroughly in the mainstream for aristocratic households of Italy and France in the Baroque and Rococo eras, and those are just the eras with explicit church influence, not even counting all the naked lolis from the Victorian:

Strangely enough, while I think Japan has a culture which is more permissive towards sex and nudity, I think its tradition of nude artwork is a lot less ancient. Though there is a dip in the medieval period, the ancient Greco-Roman world was full of nudes and this was brought back in the Renaissance to continue all the way to the present, even with some church interference. Japan's nude woodblock prints began in the 17th century and earlier examples of nude art are quite rare.

Kinda relevant, but when I was visiting the Vatican I specifically took this picture because I thought this angel had a great ass (sorry for bad focus).

I accidentally managed to take this rather nice hot of my Kirino Nendoroid in my PC case. Figured I'd post it here. ^^

I took a rather lovely photo of my Sakura Kinomoto nendoroid about a week ago. Wanted to go for a sorta magenta-pink theme lighting theme earlier, but it hid too many details on her face. Also, when I changed the LED colors to pure white, the lights on the AIO and side intake got discolored to brown, but I love how warm the colors look because of it. I think it turned out great. ^~^

Very cute! And there's actually quite an excellent video about brown, if you're interested ^_^ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wh4aWZRtTwU
