    Quoting the Windows page...

    >The Best Windows Ever

wasn't 8 supposed to be like that too?

    >In a world of cyber threats, Windows 10 is the most secure Windows ever

not counting all the holes that you're gonna have to patch with Windows Update every day starting today for at least half a year

    >Aligned with our more personal computing vision, Windows 10 is more personal and more productive

thank you very much, not pruning my current personal setup just to set it up all over again from the scratch

    >Finally, only Windows 10 can offer innovative experiences and new devices

oh, so that's a new multiplatforming system that you can use to connect to your Xbox and shit, good thing I don't need it

    >Upgrading to Windows 10 is easy if you have a genuine Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 PC or tablet

errrr, wrong. On my genuine 8.1 system I have absolutely no icon on my taskbar, and yet on my sister's pirated 8.1 system this icon does exist. Fuck me, right?

To summarize, no I didn't upgrade, and neither do I intend to until they show how good the system really is.

Hmm. You have several strong points there. I mean all the extra "xbox shit" is just plain idiotic. I mean who cares about playing xbox via windows 10. I just like it because of the new slick design. Also that new browser is fast. Either way I am sticking to chrome.

I will be upgrading one of my Win 7 PCs. I need to know how to navigate the OS because I do tech support for dumb poeple, many of whom will blindly upgrade without the slightest fucking clue as to what they are doing.... August should be a terrible mega fun month

I heard that you had to pay to use Win10? true or false?

Apparently something like a monthly subscription, or like $10 a year.

    To answer!

howtogeek Wrote:Windows 10 is available for free to most computers out there. Assuming your computer runs either Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or Windows 8.1, you’ll see a “Get Windows 10″ pop-up as long as you have Windows Update enabled. This allows you to reserve that free upgrade.

Microsoft has previously said this Windows 10 upgrade will be “free for the first year.” This means that this free offer lasts a year — from July 29, 2015 to July 29, 2016. You have a year to get your free upgrade. If you don’t upgrade by July 29, 2016 and try to upgrade on July 30, Microsoft won’t give you Windows 10 for free.

If you do upgrade within the first year, you get Windows 10 for free, permanently. You don’t have to pay anything. Even after it’s been a year, your Windows 10 installation will continue working and receiving updates as normal. You won’t have to pay for some sort of Windows 10 subscription or fee to continue using it, and you’ll even get any new features Microsft adds.

    No problem~

Oh, while I'm at it. If somebody decides to upgrade, can you message me how did the process go? I'm quite interested whether it's a clean installation of a new OS requiring you to format your disk or an upgrade process like 8 > 8.1, which keeps everything you owned.

Triumph is going to be upgrading soon. Might wanna check with him maybe next week or something or maybe get him to notify you when he does.

I'm actually not sure if I should upgrade, considering I just finished personalizing my Windows 7 computer and have to see it go away again. Hopefully it will be as customizable as Windows 7? I'm not sure if I can patch theme files for Windows 10, but someone will probably find a way, since apparently there's a patcher for the technical preview.

All in all, not today Microsoft. Not today.

I will be sticking with Windows 7, thanks. I don't want to lose compatibility for my old games (I still play Starcraft 1 and Touhou)

It's starting to look very appealing to me, I'm willing to upgrade soon. I just want to know if the downgrade process is simplified as I've heard it would be?

Yeah from what I heard you can downgrade within 30 days if you don't like it. Also it keeps all of your installed files into your "windows.old" folder.

Oh, only for thirty days? Hmmm.. Not quite sure now. I'll dig up some stuff on the internet if there are other ways.

Did it actually make the Windows.old folder for you? For me it just replaced my OS files and kept all of my user data intact. Which version did you come from?
