Ya I am. I had a short stint of being a normal outside person in my early 20s and it didn't really worked out.

I would get consumed with paranoia, like I made friends and stuff but it would always end with me losing my mind basically and imagining people were trying to ruin my life. So I stopped going out side except to go to work. Eventually I had trouble being at work. I would have panic attacks at work and think people were trying to ruin my life and stuff again. So I started have trouble holding jobs, would hold a job for about 2-5 months then I would have a break down and shut in for 1-2 months rinse repeat.

Now I have had 2 jobs in this past 2 years I held one for about 2 months and the other for about 3 weeks. I'm not a introvert, like I wanna be social. But I haven't been around irl friends for more than 2 years except for a short stint with a old friend that lasted about a week and ended bad. Currently I don't live around any irl friends and I just stay in my room all day cause I am too ashamed to talk to my family so i avoid going into shared spaces. 100 percent neet now. Go out to ride my bike, walk dogs, and do grocery shopping for my dad and brother but thats about it.

That's... Honestly, that's rather concerning. You sound like you're suffering from serious lifestyle-related anxiety.

Have you considered seeking professional help? It helped me out a lot.

Ya I have been thinking about it. Kinda like a catch 22 at the moment. Gotta get a job and some sorta insurance to get help, don't have the money and no community services for it in this area. Thank you for the concern though.

Kinda. It's mostly out of lack of opportunity though. I see myself as a bit of a shut-in but I wouldn't be if I was able, you know? I only really leave the house to work, but I don't really make enough to go and do anything, and I don't have my own transport yet, so I can't really go and do anything on my own when I can afford it because nobody else in the house ever wants to go and do anything. I think I'll be going out and doing things a lot more frequently when I get my full licence and a car, I really hate being a shut-in all the time. Makes life boring as fuck to the point that unless I'm working on a particular day (which I do enjoy) then it's really hard to get out of bed in the morning because every day is so dull and boring it's not worth even waking up for.

I'm Hikikomori.

I've been rather introverted since my early teens, but after leaving school I just became a full shut-in. I have 0 real life friends and I end up staying inside for stupid amounts of time, only really venturing outside to the nearby store if I really want something, although I don't really do it very often now.

Never have gf so YES.

Last June I completed more than 100 anime titles. Also, sometimes I spend my time for art and code.

Being a shut-in can have its perks.

The ability to be able to spend a ton of time on learning new hobbies and practising them is awesome.

Ever since the start of this semester at college, I've been actively striving to stop being such a shut-in. This might partially be due to the fact that I got very sick over summer, and didn't get out too much; I'm just making up for lost time.

Regardless, I've never felt better. Aside from finally starting to learn Nip again, I've applied to like a dozen internships for the summer; compare this to last year, where I struggled to keep up with classes and only sent in two applications. The fact that I've somehow managed to make new friends on an almost-daily basis, fortuitous as it may be, has been a huge confidence-boost as well.

I think of myself as a shut in. I have money, a girlfriend, friends, and a car. I just rather stay indoors. :P

I never really thought about it until someone said I was a typical shut-in after my adventures of puking because of eating doritos.
