The title says it all, I would firstly ask them question about what they like and then decide but if they said don't know, I would definitely tell him to watch K (K:Project)

If he was an asshat I'd show him Elfen Lied/Green Green/Eiken/Boku no Pico/put any title from Masochist's Corner here, so he doesn't defile the good creations with his dirty mind.
If we was a good person, I'd recommend Angel Beats, Code Geass, Death Note... you catch the drift.

Probably the most generic and mainstream or ones that aren't too Kawaii and are about plot.
Death Note, Angel Beats, Mirai Nikki, Clannad, Steins;Gate.

Probably something short-ish but a good plot. I just want to break some stereotypes people have.

I guess Steins;Gate would be a good first choice.

I'd highly recommend Soul Eater. That's what I started on.

I can't believe how many people like Angel Beats.... It was good but I found it uber depressing....

Anyway, yeah... Death Note is really good, and doesnt have a ton of the anime tropes which tend to sterotype our beloved hobby. Although 36 episodes was too much for him (he is an asshat,) so I had him watch Akame Ga Kill instead.

@losi I got my ex girlfriend started with Soul Eater :)

I'd recommend either Neon Genesis Evangelion or JoJo's Bizzare Adventure.

Probably Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, it's got a little bit of everything: Action, comedy, romance, drama... And the artwork is drawn beautifully. It may be a long series, but I think they would know if they want to continue after only a few episodes.

FMA:B or Death Note seem like good entry points. If the want something short, maybe Steins;Gate (I haven't watched it, but it looks really good.)

I see everyone else saying this as well, but I wish I had seen Death Note and Angel Beats! first because I would have gotten hooked a lot sooner. Besides those two, I would also introduce the person to Blue Exorcist. Amazing show in my opinion.
