Didn't transmission have some sort of massive security hole in it recently?

Their website was hacked and the OSX version was replaced with ransomware. It didn't affect windows or linux and it wasn't an issue with transmission itself. So yes, maybe their developers are incompetent at securing servers but transmission itself is fine. Plus if you're using linux it'll be packaged and signed by your distro anyway, so this sort of thing won't happen.

This is how I felt about Linux Mint when it was replaced with a backdoor'd version.

Still makes me wonder why someone would go through the effort to hack a website to spread malware, and only do the OSX version. I actually looked transmission up, and came to find out it's actually an OSX/Unix client. My bad.

It doesn't matter, as long as is lightweight causing no troubles is ok for me.
