What according to you make a good anime? There's mainly 5 things in an anime for most people-- story, sound, art, character and character development.

What do you think an anime need to be classified as "very good" ?

I give the least priority to the art and sound while judging for a very good anime. The plot is important, and so is the character development, but for me, the most important part are the characters. Even if you have a great plot, without the right characters, the plot goes to waste.

Sometimes, I also watch an anime with a really bad plot but great characters because its fun. (Note the sometimes).

Characters pretty much means everything to me, including the villain. If the villain has a definite and cool character, I tend to like him even if his role in the plot is lame. Overall, the order goes something like in priority for me:

Characters > Story > Character development > Art > Music.

This is an interesting question, i was about to make this kind of thread earlier but oh well :P

So what does make very good anime in my opinion?
Hmm.. i have pretty interesting way to justify what anime is very good.

Well let's begin with the basic things. Characters and story are definetly the most important thing in anime for me, but music is huge factor also, without good music to set the mood, i usually don't find myself enjoying the scene.

But what really makes very good anime for me is how well does the anime effect on my feeling (*cough* Clannad *cough*)

What i mean by this, is that i usually don't experience much special feelings when watching anything really. But after watching Clannad i really found out what i'm looking for from anime. The fact that Clannad made me cry at least thrice is a ridiculously huge factor to me. (gimme dem tearjerkers!) If anime can affect that heavily on my feelings, that really deserves good rating from me. (not something like one piece or fairy tail that has about 2-3 scenes in whole series that makes me choke my tears, compared to how long the series are)

No wonder you like AnoHana and Clannad. So sad qwq.
Well, in a similar way, I also like it when an anime makes me feel happy-- like Toradora or Steins;Gate. It all comes down to how well the anime expresses itself, huh?

Crap, I can't think of any word for the "how well does the anime effect on my feeling" thingie. There must be something that its called, like how story is called story e.e.
Somebody help me and tell me what that is o.o

Well i'm not only looking for sadness in stories, but something that really gives me strong feelings (makes me cry or feel happy or something similar). But yeah, i liked Clannad and Anohana cos both hit my feelings like a truck.

And i can't help you with that word, i can't figure it out either :P

For me, Characters>Character Development>Art Style>Plot>Music. All of them are important to make an amazing anime, but this is what I look for in order when watching anime

Wow, art above plot? Didn't see that coming. Thought you were a definitely 'plot-more' type of person due to you being Code Geass fan XD.
