I've been on a bit of a strategy kick lately, which is great 'cuz there's so many awesome games to play! There's Supreme Commander for when I'm feeling competitive, XCOM 2 when I wanna kick back and chillax, Worms with friends (which I deffo need to get back to), and Crusader Kings II when I want to lose myself in another world.

Strategy games are amazing.
Although, I have not played any competitively except starcraft. When I was growing up there wasn't a big competitive scene/comunity here for RTS, mostly just DotA. I saw Grubby playing warcraft (the rts game) once on TV but I was too young to understand what it was.
Most of the time I just play against computers. I still try my best to beat them on the hardest difficulty and get all of the achievements (if I really like it).
One of my fondest gaming moments are when I beat the final allied mission of Red Alert 2. I was 9 at the time so it's about 12 years ago. Wew, time flies.
I have played SupCom as well :D
Someone said that Starcraft is shit and SupCom is superior so I *had* to tried it. It was really nice. Flying mothership that shoot purifying beam, giant death robots, bombers with the size of a 8 giant death robot, air craft carrier submarine, artillery guns that can shoot across the map. I wish more games had experimental units. I don't think it's a game I would enjoy playing competitively though. I just want to sit back, turtle up and build cool stuffs and fight against endless hordes of units.
I haven't tried XCOM because I don't really enjoy turn based strategy games. I spent a lof o times playing CIV and Endless legends. They both get kinda repetitive after a while. Combat in these games are kinda boring.
I also really like the commandos series. It was so brutal, if you enjoy digital suffering, definitely try it out.
None of my friends like RTS games so I'm stuck playing alone :(

Anyway, I'm still playing Elona. This happened yesterday lol

SupCom is great! The nature of its economy puts a very large emphasis on maintaining control over vast swathes of land with tiny sprinkles of resources, which dovetails wonderfully with its emphasis on big battles and a frankly vast selection of units. It's small wonder that the game captured my heart back in my middle school days, even if only ran at ~10 fps. ( Amazingly, I remember waiting fifteen minutes after pressing the button that wins a campaign, till finally the cutscene played. Now that was took some dedication. xD )

I'd offer to play with you in a heartbeat, but sadly multiplayer is pretty challenging for me atm. If you're looking for a good time in singleplayer though, perhaps I could recommend a pirated copy of Crusader Kings II? It's got a lovely anime portaits mod if you're into that, almost makes it like an advanced version of the Sengoku Rance VNs. ^^

It's also got (w)incest.

Ah! I had a similar experience. My dad bought a computer when I was in elementary school. It was really slow. C&C:RA took 10min to pause and another 10 to unpause lol. I still enjoyed it (and a few other games) very much.
Thanks, but I live on the opposite side of the world. I imagine the latency would be horrible lol.
I already played CK 2 years ago. It was interesting but I think I stopped playing it pretty much the moment I discovered Stellaris and subsequently Rimworld (Both of them also have quite a bit of anime mods :^). Pretty much the first thing I do after picking an interesting game is search on google duckduckgo whether it has anime mods or not. Why even bother with a game if it doesn't let you mod waifu into it, right? Xd)

Have you ever played any of the fangames?

I played .flow for a while and really dug it, though it was so cryptic I could barely progress anywhere in it. There's only four main branching paths so it's a lot harder to find your way to the deep areas and easier to get fed up with. Unfortunately I lost my save in it when my HDD died last year.

Yume 2kki is supposedly a massive project made by multiple fans which is, no joke, at least 20x larger than Yume Nikki itself. I've always wanted to try it. Though I've always been a bit too slow for these kinds of games lol.

I'm actively playing CS:GO and recently picked up SoulWorker, it's a pretty good MMORPG in my opinion. I've also played through countless DDLC mods, and I'm an osu! addict.

As long as you keep it in moderation, that's fine. Mapping is always getting crazier and people keep pushing themselves to keep up

I had a small hankering for Final Fantasy IX which quickly evolved into something of an addiction as I booted it up. This has very easily been the most I've enjoyed the game since I first got it almost a decade ago. Playing it in such long sessions I think has let me appreciate the finer details in ways that were beyond me before. Part of that might just be me being older. Of course, it's taken a toll on my overall productivity so that's less nice. At least I'll actually manage to play it to the end for a second time. It only took like eight years for that to happen.

I been running around my own tropical planet (technically a moon of another planet that's too dangerous to land safely) for days trying to find some stupid signal whilst being watched by Sentinels every other hour making sure I'm respecting the environment, and frequent spectacular displays of Sentinel starships with green trails. Perhaps the game might have taken place sometime long after my people are gone save for the system and the procedural environments themselves with it thanks to the Atlas entity in power. It kinda fits the art depicting the 70s/80s but with 4K on top of it and I am definitely the last "anomalous" human being standing similar to that of Skyrim urged to fulfill some prophecy. Glad to know it's very tranquil but with a bad economy.
