I really oughta play that game. On that note, you should totes check out danger/u/ sometime. They even have an Android app! ^^

Would definitely recommend it. I really like cyberpunk settings and 'slice of life' style plot so I really enjoyed it.

I remember danger/u/ pop up on my recommended apps before I played it and was really confused as to what it was about. Going back to it, it looks really chill and nice ^^

I noticed Steam installing updates for VA-11 HALL-A fairly often last year. Curious to see what all might have changed since I last played.

Recently I've had a bad habit of starting a game and getting too busy to continue it. Saints Row IV, Battlestations Pacific, Tales of Beseria; all games I loved, but never had the chance to complete. Maybe I'll be able to fix that once things let up.

Today I put to rest a period of my life. When I was a kid, my mom was very strict on letting me have games, so I never had a console until I bought my own a few years ago. It was because of this that I didn't really understand the appeal of gaming until I was older. However, I did play some games at friends' houses. But these rarely had such an impact on me.

I was spending the night at my best friend's house and we were playing Lemmings on some system, either SNES or PlayStation. So it would have been that time period, around the late 90s or, most likely, the early 2000s. I didn't have any games at my house, so I thought Lemmings was the shit and wanted to play all night, but my friend was getting bored of it, so his father-in-law let us try one of his games out. His father-in-law was from Turkey and was a pretty artsy guy, in the US as part of a modern dance company and ballet troupe.

Anyway, we tried the game, which turned out to be some kind of JRPG. Of course, I didn't know what an RPG, much less a JRPG, was back then. I think it was a bit out of my friend's range too, so we were both being too young and stupid to understand it. Neither of us had played anything like it. I remember that it had something to do with kids in a school with some kind of paranormal activity. It opened with a bunch of kids in a school, or a hospital, or a school's nursing office, or something (really narrows down JRPGs, eh?). But what I remember most is that it opened with that classic Taoist quote of "I dreamed that I was a butterfly, or did the butterfly dream it was me?" I remember that making an impression on me because it was the first place I'd ever heard that quote. But what could the game have been??? I was stumped for years, but curious.

I finally found out what game it was today: the first Persona game. I had my suspicions that that was it for a while once I heard that it had butterfly imagery, but today I downloaded a ROM and verified it and almost shit my pants. This is the opening image that has been lurking in my subconscious for years:

Unfortunately, I found out that the English version is a complete travesty in that during "localization" they changed half of the character artwork and made a garbage translation. So what will I do? Play it in Japanese, naturally! I've read manga in Japanese before, but this will be a step up (and probably a good primer to reading untranslated VNs). I have no controller for ePSXe and I'm not sure if it's the kind of game that needs one. I couldn't control Silent Hill worth a shit on this without a controller.

Rune Factory 4! It's not quite as full-featured as Stardew Valley, but between its vibrant artstyle and charming characters, it's made me feel like I'm living my fantasy life. ^^

Also, is it me, or does the female player-character lowkey look like Zuikaku from Kantai Collection? Dem twintails are purdy. <3

Y'know... For some reason, I really, really want to play Overwatch again. I had a tonna fun zipping around and flanking as Tracer and S:76, back before anyone knew the "proper" way to play. But just before I left, it felt as if the entire community had come to revolve around Competitive. Wonder if that's still true?

Met some cool people in FFXIV and I've been playing more of it lately just to hang out with them.

I'm playing Tears to Tiara, a harem game where you play as the Maou (Demon King) that mixes 2.5D RTS RPG and VN. It has an anime adaptation, I saw it and it's one of my favorite animes, but the game is even better, longer and actually shows the H scenes, making the character's intimacy more evident.

Looks amazing! I'm definitely gonna swashbuckle it sometime soon. :3

Not gonna lie, it kinda reminds me of when I played Princess Waltz, another VN with significant combat and RPG elements. The art was gorgeous, the music was surprisingly good, and the characters actually felt like genuine people; but in eight years I've never quite made it past the first couple hours. Might hafta fix that sometime this summer.

Just finished Deus Ex for the first time. Had a pretty good time overall, but I feel like the story and the gameplay kinda wavered toward the end. The final area and the endings felt particularly underwhelming.

Now that I can actually play games now, I've been playing some mainstream games like Witcher 3. Might even reinstall GTA for a bit.

A friend and I played that together a few months back. There were a decent amount of real tricky puzzles in there.

I learned that the people who made VA-11 Hall-A put out a short VN as a gag on April Fools called VA-11 Hall-A Kids!. It's got all the charm of the actual game so if you liked the original it's worth checking out, especially for the low, low price of $0. Poke around a bit and you may even find a secret!

I've been playing Clone Hero to relive my childhood/adolescent years. Also playing Valkyria Chronicles since I got it in a Humble Bundle

I still need to finish that game. Life always seemed to pick up when I was liberating that torn-up city a few levels in.

I've heard it's a masterpiece, though.

Just bought a visual novel called 'A Light in the Dark'. One of my more enjoyable VN experiences, surprisingly, since I wasn't actively following this game and was only notified of its release since I added it to my wishlist at some point.

I've managed to make Civ IV unstable enough to warrant saving multiple times per turn. It's taken me two and half hours to do maybe nine turns.

Path of Exile. It's an addiction, and I can quit it whenever I want.

It's also taking all my money, but I'm okay with that. I promise.

I've been drudging through Okami as of late. Honestly, I want to love it, but I just am not feeling the magic. The game is undoubtedly beautiful, but there's just something off for me, idk.

I also just played Hotel Dusk: Room 215, it's a cute little DS visual novel type game, it has a fantastic story. I plan to play the sequel soon. Plus, I've just been revisiting unfinished games. First, The World Ends With You, and now Mother 3.
