I'd very much like this to happen. In the case that some groundbreaking research can prevent our inevitable deaths by a little longer, than I'd be willing to go that route instead of dying peacefully. While the world is cruel, and sad, there's something that draws me to stay with it for more than I am needed to.

I'd like to hope that maybe I could be born as someone new, but with the the same dreams and aspirations and so next time over, maybe the right opportunities will be presented where talent can bloom, and my dreams can be completed.

But meh I don't particularly care right now because without life there cannot be death, so make the best out of your life and try not to leave so many regrets.

If my soul were to be kept and I'm still out there somewhere, even when this frail human body has withered, then maybe I can be a star shining in the sky. Maybe I can help others get home. Maybe that couple stargazing would call me beautiful.

But hey, those are just what I hope for. Because, to be completely honest, I dislike the thought of heaven and hell. It's not real, so being with family and friends isn't real either, I'd rather move on somewhere else and maybe meet them again someday, somehow.
But once more, hey- I'm just an idiot dreamer.

Typically when people talk about what happens after we die, it is bound together with the whole religious talk. If this was that, I would simply say "I don't care how the world was made, or what happens when we die." However, I will say this: If I remember correctly, Louis C.K once said a quote that is pretty much the same as how I feel. "Remember what it was like when you were being born? Yeah, that's sort of what it's like to die." His point was that you didn't know what it felt like when you were being born, and that's how you will go out. Now, it may vary depending on your death, one maybe more painful than another kind of death, but as for what happens after death, quite frankly, it's just blackness, or so I view it. You won't know you're dead, just like you would have never known you were being born. I don't personally believe in any sort of heaven or hell, but I don't like to say I'm atheist, since atheism is basically the absence of religion, or the opposite of theism (OH MAN HOW DID I FIGURE THAT OUT?!).

tl;dr nothing.

It would be. But as stated, I don't see any sort of religion being real. Personally I see religion as sort of a cry for help, wanting answers, knowing yourself you won't get them, but ignoring your own frame of mind anyways.

I'm Catholic. So I believe when we died our soul will come back and join the God's Kingdom.

I've read another holy books of another religion, such as Moslem's Qoran and it says very similar with Christian teaching.

I don't know about other believes, but I don't believe Buddhist teaching that says our soul will be incarnate. It's just blow my mind when I think how people will incarnate to animal or plant.

You say no posts like "you die." but that's pretty much it I think.
I think when you die that's it, you're dead, same as before you were born there is nothing, you simply cease to exist and that's the end of it.

Nothing happens. You will not know you're dead because you no longer exist. I think it would be most comparable with an eternal dreamless sleep. That's why death seems peaceful.

I really hope there's no afterlife.
When I'm done living, I'm done living.
Life shouldn't be wasted worrying about/waiting for death.
Life should be used for living, ya know?
I wanna' have fun while I'm still above the ground.

You're reborn in the world of your Waifu so you can live your afterlife with her of course.

In all seriousness though, I think we have a pretty good idea of what death is and there's not much justification for beliefs other than "you stop living." It's a real shame because our short lifespans put a cap in our potential as humans. Luckily there's some real potential in anti-aging and life extension research: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strategies...Senescence

Loss of consciousness and becoming one with the world around me. When I ODed and stop breathing there was nothing. Just me nodding out...nothing....and waking up to people all freaking out because they had to use narcan on me to get me to not completely die.

You experience delusions and fantasies for an indefinite time, experiencing demons and deities that are but products of your mind.
The experience itself might vary based on cultural perceptions.
As you get closer towards the end it's going to get lewder and lewder, and eventually you're reborn.

Honestly, death is something most don't deserve to experience, at least at an early age. It's when we've experienced everything worthwhile in our life that we should close our eyes and disappear.

But yeah, that's just my dirty, shitty two cents.

If there was an afterlife this life would become meaningless. What would this world matter? You have an infinite life awaiting you!

It's what makes this life so valuable. It is finite.

Wow, I'd never considered that. That's a really good point.

In reality, all he's doing is pushing the same buttons he always has, nothing has changed. The longer he spends here, the more invested he gets, the more he forgets which life is the real one.

This is actually brought up many times in the videogame SOMA, where when presented with a means to copying one's self into a digital world they would achieve immortality. However someone had committed suicide after being copied, prompting others to do the same because it was the only way into eternal paradise. At least that's all that I know so far.

That doesn't follow at all. Why does life have to be finite to be valuable?

If life is infinite it becomes inherently worthless. What do these 80 years matter when I have an infinite amount coming?

When we die all that we worked for doesn't go to waste.
So let's not think of the worst and smile.

Why wonder about then, think about now. There's nothing you can do when you're no longer able to move your body, so make the most out of what you can.

An eternal dream doesn't sound too bad.
To live again, to achieve my most wanted dreams-
That sounds nice.

My views:

First, after I die I'll feel nothing. No pain, no crying, no depression, etc., not even hunger. It will be like a coma; I won't feel anything. Rotting and being nutrition for the earth. This goes the same to everyone else. Scientifically.

Second, I don't believe in reincarnation. I am thankful and grateful being what I am now. I have never complained about the nation where I was born, which race I am, and which gender I am. I believe that all humans are created with the same goal: {{ goal_goes_here }}.

Third, I believe in the existence of God; heaven and hell do exist. Physically, the body is dead, but the soul isn't. And the death itself is a progress to the next phases/realm/universe/kingdom/whatever. Heaven or hell - what will happen depends on the things that I do as I am living in this world; every action has a responsibility: all good behavior will be met with a reward, and all bad behavior will be met with punishment.

tl;dr I'm high.

Well after death, you wouldn't know you're dead, since you wouldn't be able to comprehend anything. You wouldn't "feel" anything, and you wouldn't know you're in a "dark void"

I personally believe we can't comprehend what happens after we die

we wouldn't know

we wouldn't know we would't know

and i can't even imagine what that nothing is like. Because that nothing is exactly what we would be experiencing, but not experiencing.

i personally believe there is an afterlife, idrc what you think of that.

I think we just sort of end. Consciousness doesn't just go away, it ceases to exist, our brain and everything else just shuts down. It can be sad, but I can't see it happening any other way. I wish there was something afterwards, not a heaven or a hell, or even reincarnation, I just kind of wish consciousness stayed. But I don't think it's like that. The upside is, none of it really matters, so if you screw it all up, you won't be regretting it eternally. And if you did it perfectly, the people who screwed up don't have to listen to your reminiscing and bragging.  The only way to really live on is in the memories  of others, so if you want to live on, do something incredible.

When death finally takes you all of your joys and memories will dissolve with your consciousness. It as if you never lived. A hopeless infinity that was briefly eclipsed by a few decades that you pointlessly attributed meaning to.
