This Week:
[Image: 68747470733a2f2f752e706f6d662e69732f7a69...782e706e67]

I recently watched a run of this game for the first time, and it was very interesting to me, since this game is normally a puzzle game, but the Speedrun turns this into a pretty hard platform. I'm not sure when I have last seen such a difference in gameplay between casual and speedrun.

Let's start with the categories then.
I don't really have to explain them, since all of them are pretty self-explanatory, but I will at least list them. First up we got 'Messenger Ending', getting the Messenger ending as fast as possible. Next up is 'All Sigils', basically 100%. 'Transcendence Ending'. 'Eternalize Ending'. As well as Any% and 100% for the 'Road to Gehenna' DLC.

Now, as for the Records.
The first place for the Messenger ending is occupied by Azorae, finishing in 13mins flat, followed by dotzo, who finished in 13:42. The World Record holder for getting all the Sigils as fast as possible is also Azorae, finishing that run in 51:57. In second comes Kovanel with his 52:48. MousseMoose is the record holder for getting the Transcendence Ending, finishing in 17:47 and has quite the lead on the second place, which is Kittaye, finishing in 30:05. For the Eternalize Ending we have frogtown at the top, finishing in 15:53, followed by jihok with quite the difference again, who finished in 39:46. Now onto the two DLC categories. For Any% we have King_Mamba_48 in first, finishing with 11:47, followed by apple1417, who finished in 12:10. And last but not least we have Azorae holding another record for this game in 100%, finishing in 20:30, followed by LoliFelix, finishing in 22:30.

As for glitches.
Not really any to explain, all of it is collision, and maybe a bit of pause buffering, but only very rarely

As for learning this game, watch runs, a whole lot of them. Routing is pretty much everything. And from there it's pretty much grinding out the hard jumps to get good. But I do recommend that those that really want to run this game, should definitely take a look at the autosplitter. Those things are always very useful to have.

As for competition on the Leaderboard, I'd call it quite decent.
On the Leaderboard for the Messenger Ending we have a total of 15 people, with a total time difference of 1:12:15 between first and last. On the Leaderboard for the All Sigils run we have 7 people, 20:56 seperating first and last place. 13 people run the 'Trenscendence Ending' category, 59:25 between number 1 and number 13. The 'Eternalize Ending' category is run by 4 people, with a total time difference of 1:02:57 spread across the board. The Road to Gehenna DLC Any% is run by 5 people, only 3:05 between first and last. And lastly, Road to Gehenna DLC 100% also has 5 runner on the Leaderboard, 24:21 between Azorae in first and Haizan in last.

Like usual can the Leaderboard be found under: http://www.speedrun.com/talos_principle

That was it for this week, hope y'all liked it. Feel free to leave any kind of feedback or recommendations on what to cover next.

It misses the actual screenshots which is kind of sad, but I'll take a look at the game, thanks. I actually saw a few thumbnails of this games' speedruns on youtube, but never bother to check; now it actually does seem interesting the way you covered it.

Yea, since I don't own the game myself I had to use google to look for screenshots, but most of them are either to small, don't actually show anything worth showing, or are shots from the engine and not actually taken ingame. Else I would have added some. But since most of the runs are only between 15 to 20 minutes long, I thought it matters less, since one can simply watch those inbetween other stuff.

I'd like that a lot actually, most people prolly have read the article already, but maybe some one new will read it at one point, and having screenshots then would be quite good.
