They managed 5 million queries per second, totalling 50 billion queries, according to the article (data from verisign, operator of the attacked servers). You may have noticed, but internet service wasn't really affected, as they had spare servers for load balancing.

The real question is, of course, whodunnit? Seems they'd need quite a bit of power to pull that off.

>trying to bring down internet using internet

In all seriousness though, what would bringing down the internet really accomplish?

Many things rely on the internet to function.

Well it would cause a lot of chaos since the majority of the western world relies on the internet for basically everything. Without the internet we're down and out.

Most likely anarchists, terrorists, antisocials, or immature teens.

I don't think the anarchists teens or antisocial people have enough power to send 5 million queries per second for two days. It's probably some government like the article says. My bets are either on the Islamic terrorists since they hate the piss out of us westerners, or Russia, because Putin doesn't seem to like us westerners either.

Had to laugh at that one, ha.

But ye, it's somewhat weird. No idea what their goal was or is, to me, it seems rather stupid in all honestly

I love the image they decided to use for the article.

It's so cheesy.

In reality, all he's doing is pushing the same buttons he always has, nothing has changed. The longer he spends here, the more invested he gets, the more he forgets which life is the real one.

HAHAHAHAHA Why would they even try that, who sat down and was like
"Lets be Kim Kardashian, lets break the internet"
"Yeah Henry that sounds like a great idea, lets attack the DNS using the same thing they do, Hahahahahaha"
They must think they're so cool.

From sending that many requests per second would take A LOT of REALLY REALLY NICE computers and not one you can just buy off a shelf either. I would have my money on a large hacktivists group or a rich third world terrorist group.

From knowing how DDoS works they would also need a large enough bandwidth to send it all through. But then there's the proxies they used so it would "cover" there tracks. I would assume from the looks from other attacks they are getting better at doing this type of thing.
