If anyone cares (this is more for me to vent) -
I thought about smoking again, so I went outside. I saw my neighbor smoking so I just gave the pack to them and said they can have it. Every time I think about smoking now, I just pull up Facebook and look at my grandparents and how it affected them. After that, I want nothing to do with cigarettes.
Anime girls that smoke are still hot tho ~~~

I hate it when I'm walking through town, and someone walking in front of me lights a fag.

It's worse in America. There is a law in my state which prevents smoking within eight feet of a building, but nobody follows it. People will literally be standing in the doorway smoking. If you're gonna smoke, do it out of the way of the public. Nobody wants to smell that shit, it's just being selfish.

Thanks man. I think I'll be fine. Smoking has ran through my family for so long and I wanna be the generation that changes things.

Everyone in my family except me are related to this at some point in my distant past, nowadays not anymore, but around the time I was raised in Montgomery, when drug abuse rates was so bad in my old home county it affected me a lot very fast without even knowing. By around pre-school time, I then realized that I was born with a not-so-great immune system, a learning disability, weakened circulation in some parts of my body, being too light in weight, and intolerance to many foods.

Overtime, ever since I still do not even know how this world even works, I winded up with a strong disdain of all things related to drugs, even the harmless ones. Time and again during school some of my random non-disabled peers tried to steer me into that stuff, and I ended up with varied responses from a simple no, change the subject, panic, walk away, warn of the consequences it can impose, to getting a staff member, or even destroy the contents altogether. I might even witnessed a few incidents where illegal drugs brought in and thought to myself why this keeps on happening.

Even when I moved out to Allegany over an unrelated bulldozing order by the state, there is still drug abuse here; heroin, cannabis, among others, but not as bad and only occurs on the streets on occasion. Fortunately, none of the aforementioned things occurred to me during my last and only school year in 2014-15 at Fort Hill. After all of these mandatory school days were over, I still constantly remember all of those events in my head with various feelings, reminding to myself that drugs, no matter what is made of doesn't make anyone happy, it doesn't make anyone smarter, it can be addictive, and it only makes life so much worse than stress.

If I were to run for county-level representative if it weren't for my learning disability in my imagination, I would in a heartbeat outlaw drugs in the first place with jail sentences of up to 20 years maximum and hefty fines worth thousands.

I won't even trust 2D girls with a habit of smoking or other drugs they take, either, no offense.

In conclusion, I thought I would not end up being born and live in a dark time like this. I had quite a tragic childhood and wish I would just get over it.

I'm all for getting rid of addition, but this technique is absolutely well proven not to work. All banning substances does (prohibition, the current war on drugs) is force the dealers and addictions underground and enable organised crime. There are proven better ways to combat addiction (making drugs legal, and then helping the people who are addicted). Trying the same shit over and over again when it's proven not to work is insanity.

Yeah, that's how I feel too. That is wayyyy overboard. Besides, if I wanted to smoke that's my own decision to make.

Offering and supporting rehabilitation to those struggling with addiction is a better foot forward than locking people up and not dealing with the underlying issues causing the addiction. You lock someone up for 20 years because of their addiction, they'll get released 20 years later unable to cope with current societal standards and unable to proceed forward with their lives. Help someone struggling and work with them to make a positive change on not only themselves, but the society they live in and you'll see progress. This is all one of my biggest gripes with America and their for-profit prison system. It doesn't work to help people and society, but it excels at giving wealthy individuals more money.

I remember as a kid hearing my dad saying that my drug addicted aunt gets life in prison and wondered why he would wish that on his own sister.

It's a really backwards point of view on the subject. I have family that have similar views on things and I'm constantly trying to share mine and point out how it is better. But, people think "If we lock them up then they can't taint society!" or "If we lock them up then they can't sell drugs and peer pressure my kids!" Which is truly stupid. We need to help each other, but too often people only care about themselves. It's really evident now, and I apologize for bringing up American politics, because you see people who've voted for Trump start getting negatively effected by his changes and they're coming out of the woodwork, but they didn't bat an eye when fellow Trump voters got stuck outside of America because of the travel ban. People are too content with their current way of life and only care if it begins to effect them. It's a damn shame.
