Music accompanies the path of the human metronome, the prodigious pianist Kousei Arima. But after the passing of his mother, Saki Arima, Kousei falls into a downward spiral, rendering him unable to hear the sound of his own piano.

Two years later, Kousei still avoids the piano, leaving behind his admirers and rivals, and lives a colorless life alongside his friends Tsubaki Sawabe and Ryouta Watari. However, everything changes when he meets a beautiful violinist, Kaori Miyazono, who stirs up his world and sets him on a journey to face music again.

I would make a review of this, however any time I think of this anime I get overwhelmingly sad.

Not going to front I cried so much during this. I am really close to my mom so this anime had me emotional at so many parts. It was the best anime of that year hands down. People called it melodramatic but every part of it seemed very sincere to me. And an ending that doesn't spare your feelings, I really should watch it again.

Also I will always regret not pre-ordering this when I had the chance

I think we all did. This is one of the only anime that's up to par or even surpasses the depression Clannad gave me. The next follow up was Anohana and Little Busters but I mean, not nearly as great. :')

I couldn't disagree more with the people saying it was melodramatic. The anime captured so many things perfectly. The color palette for scenes was spot on, the atmosphere you felt watching, and the emotion the characters displayed. Hands down one of the few anime that has ever made me cry manly tears, honestly it was probably the worst I've ever seen. Anohana following behind it.

I love and hate anime like that, such a powerful and gripping story, only to rip your heart out at the end. God, I need to get out of this thread, I'm depressed now.

The compositions they chose were spot on. The mixture of music and character dynamic really attacked you from all angles. It really is an anime that did drama amazingly. The one and only flaw were the cgi hands. I understand the need but at first I was very disappointed.

Honestly, while I enjoyed the anime, and am an aspiring pianist myself, I really didn't think it was all that great. Yes, it was good, but.. I don't know. It felt like it was missing something, and I feel as if the ending could have been prolonged. Certainly an anime I would recommend, however.
