Well, I do have to watch out for my wrists now.

Swords sound cool but they're expensive and I'm sure I would hurt myself atempting to wield one.

I was fairly paranoid. If I hear a sound in the middle of the night I'd immediately think it's a thief, pick up a knife and go check. I used to keep a knife on my table next to my computer all the time. I know it's extremely unlikely that anything dangerous will ever happen and there is no valid reason to be afraid of what is likely to be a cat or the wind but I couldn't feel calm. It's a strange feeling to be doing things that you are fully aware are irrational. I obtained a sword illegally and became much more calm at night. Luckily, I got better a few years later and finally sold it. Good feeling, good feeling.

Nice to hear that. I understand how you feel. I used to play osu 5-8 hours a day back in 2014, I injured my right shoulder by spinning too quick on spinners and basically tensed my right arm all the time. Took almost 2 years for it to heal but I never really stopped playing. Almost got kicked out of college because I spent too much time playing osu instead of studying at one point. Fortunately, I realized I was making a huge mistake and started focusing on studying. I'll graduate in a few months. These days I only play osu a few days a month for an hour or 2 each session because I want to get in "the zone". It's like meditation and it makes me feel at ease.

It used to be that we play osu because we like music. I wonder when that changed into climbing ladder and getting pp

Theoretical physics, yeah, that ones sounds difficult ^_^' glad you got yourself back on track! I'm pretty much getting through my degree on limp mode

I don't think it's as hard as everyone believes. I think quite a few people seem to misunderstand what you're supposed to learn when you sign up to study physics and pick the wrong field. In my first year I saw a lot of people who like black holes but hate maths. By the second year most (if not all) of them were gone. I blame popular science. They usually talk about pretty cool stuff but leaves out all of the maths. Physics is breathing and speaking maths. Now that I think about it, I actually don't know why people like physics. Personally, I like to study physics because I like to study physics. Usually, I only have to remember maybe between 5 and 20 equations each course and they are pretty easy to remember if you have some math intuition and understand the phenomenon that's expressed by those equations. Thermodynamics is an outlier with like 90 equations or something *shudder*. I can derive everything else from those equations (believe me, this is fun, it makes you feel smart hehe). Some might say it's a weakness since if you don't understand some of the basic thoroughly you might struggle but I think once you get into it, it becomes way easier to understand advanced(?) ideas.

I hope that in time you'll find motivation to finish your degree like a champ. Don't let a bad start ruin the whole thing. Fight on!
Thanks, I just found this forum yesterday while searching for Elona's (a game) guides and thought the name was interesting so I signed up.

It's honestly a shame. However, I do have to acknowledge that osu! has given me a reinvigorated love in music, and has even helped me find a few anime shows that I wouldn't have even bothered checking out otherwise. Not to mention the friends I've made :) Cheers on you for graduating soon! Hoping I make it that far as well lol. Honestly I probably won't ever get back on osu! again. I threw away five years wasting away and clawing at the leaderboards, and it was so unhealthy and toxic for me. At least I got to 4k rank before I quit lmao

My last run on the Spooky's HD Renovation felt like I ran a marathon being chased all over the mansion, inevitably the school ghost specimen at 1,724 rooms in her angriest form by the spider web corridors did me in, but because I am not up for the leaderboards, I took that as just pleasure for the thrill of chases. I even wrote down every single encounter I had with them by room and the number of tallies as spawns.

While some are more resistant than others, I don't believe anyone is completely impervious to stress

In the meanwhile KH3 is out and hopefully I have time this week to play it

I'm still coming to terms with the fact that it's out now. I got into KH around 2009 and can remember people eagerly anticipating it even then.

Right? It's so surreal. I think I was 7 when I first got into KH.

You're probably right. Pop science is a nice way of generally informing people who otherwise have no interest or time. But I suppose another issue with it is that it's too passive - it's easy to just take in information without having a clue as to where it came from or who's providing it.

Unfortunately my love of maths ended somewhere after sixth form - things became too abstract and arbitrary for me. Having to remember endless equations/formulae isn't something I particularly enjoy. That being said, I'm currently taking a cryptography module... I guess we'll see how that goes!

In other news, rip my 3TB HDD

Heh, well, discrete stats will be used in crypto, so perhaps it wouldn't be too bad for you :p

And I dunno~ pdflatex just stopped mid-compilation, git would hang, directory listing would take a long time. After a reboot it just showed up as a 4GB disk that couldn't be accessed.

Though I'm not too surprised - it's a model we'll known for failing early, so it's commendable that it even lasted 6 years!

Unfortunately my love of maths ended somewhere after sixth form - things became too abstract and arbitrary for me. Having to remember endless equations/formulae isn't something I particularly enjoy. That being said, I'm currently taking a cryptography module... I guess we'll see how that goes!

Best 'a luck with Crypto! Me, all's I was ever good at was Stats.

That is one hundred percent "not okay". What happened, mate? :<

Hope you didn't lose anything important!

The only stuff I really lost were things that are my downloads folder, and things that are stored on other media, so I'm not too bothered :)

While some are more resistant than others, I don't believe anyone is completely impervious to stress
Make sure to take care of yourself Yuu <3

In the meanwhile KH3 is out and hopefully I have time this week to play it

Okay. I'm starting to become more fine now. I'm more used to it now. Just so much more and new responsibities at work. Learning three different new assingments at the same time. Be talking with customer at phone while working at ticket, remote connecting to people at the same time taking a call on a emergency phone. Working three weekends in a row.

Spoiler

Me at work now.

But in all seriosness. Yeah I'm starting to get more comfortable with this now lol. But either way throwing up on way to work because of stress is no good. I feel better now, but eye opener. I gotta take better care of myself.

@malmon
Ahh, losing your files is not fun.
I was tricked into formmating my C:\ drive once. It was last year actually, not like when I was 12 or anything. Lost a lot of stuff that I've been accumulating over the years (like fonts). I wasn't angry, just felt sad for falling for something like that.

Take my energy!
I like to think of it like osu. When our rank decays for months it can feel bad but we know we're improving the more we play. Not being able to see the progress until we've improved a lot to make new top play can be quite demotivating but hang in there.
What I like to do to improve is just get a calendar and set a realistic and simple goal like "study for 3 hours a day, every day". Then any day that I study for 3 hours I put a mark on the calendar. Eventually it'll form a chain and you really won't want to break that chain. Some day when I get home late instead of going to sleep I just stay up to study because I want to keep the chain going. When my friends ask me to play league, I refuse because that game suck, but also, because I want to study to keep the streak. Doing this helps me see my progress and avoid thinking about not improving. I didn't have to rely on feeling motivated (which is never enough) to study. It went on for a few months without any problem. I felt like a champion, unstoppable, I felt like I could conquer the universe. Then one day I became sick and couldn't get up to study for a few days. The chain broke and so I never try that again lol. True story. But my grade improved a lot after that.

Thank you. This is actually interesting, I think I'll try it out after I get home today :)
