Hey everyone. I recently just started learning how to use HTML/CSS, got the basics down and I'm going through the Ruby CodeAcademy course now too. But I thought it'd be super cool if we could all share our webdev projects etc.

Doesn't matter if it's your own little homepage, pomf clone or whatever. Just pop a URL or Github link down below, tell us a little about it and maybe why/how you made it and hopefully we can all take a peek and learn a little something or gather some inspiration!

My Projects:

Song Squares / GitHub Repo
A silly little site running off of a Tumblr blog with a free domain name. One of my first ventures into coding stuff!

Homepage / GitHub Repo
My first shot at a site or homepage for myself. I think I'll make this one pretty professional and make a more silly one for myself later. No domain etc. for this one as I'm planning to actually buy some hosting and make this a legit website, but the code is on git.

Feel free to PM me if there is anything I can help with!
Also if you just want to talk I'm always available.

I disagree. You're pretty good at it already, and you're only going to keep improving.

wtf. Those download numbers cant be in any way correlated to actual users downloading my stuff probably bots.
Its a site publishing tool for freenet written in ruby and a protocol library/gem written in ruby for freenet.

I just finished script for downloading manga from nhentai.net
I made is as way to learn python a bit, so it's nothing great, and probably has bugs.
for now it seems to work fine though.

Code:
import re, sys, urllib.request, os, requests, shutil
from bs4 import BeautifulSoup

USER_AGENT = "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:28.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/28.0"

def fillZeros(num, digs):
    tmp = str(num)
    c=0
    while num>=1:
        c+=1
        num/=10
    while c<digs:
        tmp='0'+tmp
        c+=1
    return tmp

def clean(title):
    return re.sub('[\/\\\*><]', '', title)

def download(gallery, name, title):
    title = clean(title)
    if os.path.exists(title):
        j=1
        while os.path.exists(title+'_'+str(j)):
            j+=1
        title+='_'+str(j)
    os.makedirs(title)

    i = 1
    cont = True
    while cont:
        r = requests.get(gallery+str(i)+'.jpg', stream=True, headers={'User-agent': USER_AGENT})
        if r.status_code == 200:
            #print('Getting page '+str(i))
            with open(title+'/'+name+'_'+fillZeros(i,3)+'.jpg', 'wb') as f:
                r.raw.decode_content = True
                shutil.copyfileobj(r.raw,f)
            i+=1
        else:
            r = requests.get(gallery+str(i)+'.png', stream=True, headers={'User-agent': USER_AGENT})
            if r.status_code == 200:
                print('Getting page '+str(i))
                with open(title+'/'+name+'_'+fillZeros(i,3)+'.png', 'wb') as f:
                    r.raw.decode_content = True
                    shutil.copyfileobj(r.raw,f)
                i+=1
            else:
                cont = False
                print(title+' done: '+str(i-1)+' pages')

def getPages(url):
    print('Getting form '+url)
    request = urllib.request.Request(url)
    request.add_header('User-Agent', USER_AGENT)
    html = urllib.request.urlopen(request).read()
    html=html.decode()
    soup=BeautifulSoup(html,'html.parser')
    info = soup.find('div', id="info")
    info = info.find('h1')
    title = info.string
    div = soup.find('div',id="cover")
    m = re.search('src="(.*galleries/([0-9]*)/)', str(div))
    gallery = 'http:'+m.group(1)
    gallery = gallery.replace('t.nhentai', 'i.nhentai')
    num = m.group(2)
    download(gallery, num, title)

if len(sys.argv)<2:
    urls = raw_input('url: ')
    urls = re.split('\s', urls)
    for url in urls:
        getPages(url)
else:
    i=1
    while i<len(sys.argv):
        url = sys.argv[i]
        i+=1
        getPages(url)

Usage:
Code:
python scriptname.py mangaurl [mangaurl2 ...]

If someone wants to use it but it doesn't work, let me know, I'll try to fix it.

Edit: Fixed few things

Very nice considering you're just starting out. I just recently made a self-hosted image portfolio HTML/CSS based off of Instagram, take a look here if you'd like.

Believe that I've fixed the right button lining up with the box. :) [Image: 68747470733a2f2f752e706f6d662e69732f667a...7a2e706e67]

Also updated XeIRC's GitHub to be a bit more explanatory.

Thanks :)

Should have checked sooner but when I resized my browser it got out of line again; I'm pretty sure it should be fixed now. :) The email issue should be solved too, since I've set the button's minimum width to be larger than the length of the text.

yep both fixed. I wonder though, why do you cover the a in scratso with the S? Also i kinda feel like the whole site could be zoomed out a bit. currently everything really feels in your face.

also on the Forsaken Light page the fact that all the text is italics is eye straining

About the "covering the A with the S" (which is how everyone seems to describe it...), that's because it's heavily inspired off forums etc that I used to go on which had profile pages that were in that kind of style, having a circular avatar on top of a background image. The Scratso and S are potentially subject to change in future; they're essentially an avatar and background.

And de-italicised most of the Forsaken Light website; the Twitter feed is designed to be in italics though (since it looks sort of hand-written.)
