OS: Windows 7 64-bit - Home Premium
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X @ 3.6 GHz
Motherboard: MSI B450 Tomahawk
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
RAM: 16GB DDR4 @ 2666
Storage: 1TB WD Blue HDD, 250GB WD Blue SSD, 3TB WD My Book
Peripherals: Simple USB keyboard and mouse

I briefly took the 10-pill after experiencing issues with Windows 7 but unfortunately my trick with the activation key didn't quite work. The 10 installation did help me to properly install Win 7, fortunately enough. There wasn't anywhere on the motherboard to put my sound card so I'll need to look for a new one as the onboard audio is a bit finnicky. Very happy with the build so far.

That's awesome man, I'm so happy to hear! :D

The 1060 is a great card, and the big SSD gives ya tons of space for a twitchy shooter like R6: Siege. Kinda surprised you'd invest in a sound card, though. Without being there myself, I'd reckon the motherboard has ya covered.

More importantly, what's the first game you're gonna play? ^^

I used Civ V to break it in. Ran at max settings without a hitch and most importantly (to me anyway) there was no increase in the sound coming from my machine. It's so much quiter. I think I'll get Wolfenstein going next as I've had it on PC and PS3 for years but couldn't stand playing it on either platform.

I'll have to look more into trying to fix my sound issue as it seems the onboard audio is pretty decent.

Edit: What the fuck, it seems to be working fine now.

The thing that always let's the onboard sound down is the drivers in my experience. At least on windows anyway. That's why I just got a USB DAC :|

Haha, no worries! I remember building my PC and i forgot to flip the switch on my power supply, so I was internally screaming over how I somehow broke it lmao

Ever since I became a shut-in, tinkering is one of the few things I can do to keep myself busy. Nowadays my setup isn't a single PC, so much as it's a network of computers providing different services.

OS: KDE Neon 18.04 / Windows 10 64-bit
Processor:Intel Core i7-7700HQ
RAM: 16GB DDR4 2400MHz
GFX Card: GTX 1070, Intel HD Graphics
Storage: 500GB SSD (system), 1TB/500GB HDD (miscellaneous)
Monitors: Asus VG249, Acer S271HL
Keyboard: DBPOWER model no. K928
Mouse: Magic Eagle HV-MS735
Headphones: Sony WH-1000XM3
Peripherals: HTC Vive, USB sound card, laptop cooling pad
VPN Gateway: Raspberry Pi 2 w/PiVPN and PiHole
Webserver: Old Dell tower w/Apache
Media Server: Newer Dell tower w/NextCloud and rTorrent
Kodi Box/IRC Server: Lenovo laptop

Is there a reason that these are all sperate machines? :o
I'm reasonably sure you could do all this with one

Aye, there's a few. I like to keep my web server separate from the media server as an extra layer of security, and run my VPN on the Pi since installation was a no-brainer. As for the Kodi box and media server, the former needs to slip covertly into a TV stand, and the latter sits inside an ugly mangle of wires.

The biggest reason, however, is purely due to aesthetics. I had a daydream once of spending long nights surrounded by humming machines and dim screens, a sea of cables coiled around my feet. Of course, they said to be careful what you wished for.
