I was curious what light novels you'd recommend. I've read a few, though I think my list of want-to-read is noticeably longer than what I've actually read so far.

My first ever was the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya quite a few years ago. There've probably been new releases since then, but I do remember really loving it at the time. The other series I've read is Kino no Tabi. I loved the anime and figured why not? Turns out it's every bit as good as the anime and I'm thoroughly enjoying myself. I also kinda started reading Rokka no Yuusha after the anime aired last year, and still aim to read through that series since I was hearing good things about it.

So what series out there do you like to recommend? Or just list off your favorites, either works.  :yay:

To Aru Majutsu no Index series, this'll keep you busy for a while.
Steins;gate series, regardless of fanwork-- they are as good as original visual novel.
Kamisama no memochou, this is an interesting read tbh.
Gosick, if you watched anime and liked it, highly recommended. much better.
Sugar Dark, this one was interesting when I picked it up from bookstore. I need to finish it but idk where I put it...
Zero no Tsukaima, watched anime and liked it? READ IT. didn't like anime? READ IT. Much, much better.
Shakugan no Shana, you get to observer characters a lot deeper imo. It's much easier to understand the setting of this story unlike Anime.

pls no. not pet girl of Sakurasou. that's like recommending Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii wake ga nai!
The ending was quite disappointing. It felt way too abrupt.

Lol. I put that in there because I liked it for the most part. Although the ending was a bit abrupt.

I wanna recommend Kyoukaisenjou no Horizon. I really do. Problem is, despite having a complex plot penned by a veteran writer and taking place in an imaginative world filled with vibrant characters, the writing takes almost three pages just to describe thirty minutes of action. At that point, unless you're a true bibliophile, I'd reckon you're better off just watching the anime.

Maybe not really LN related, but still somewhat related I guess. If anyone watched Re:Zero and want more, they can read the web novel. A few volunteers recently started translating the web novel to english, starting from where episode 25 ended. I'm finding it good so far, if anyone is interested: https://translationchicken.com/ (But keep in mind, WN -> LN -> Anime. The anime is not a direct adaption from WN, but rather the LN. But it's still somewhat close.)
