Here is the sixth issue of the Lewd News, written by the Writers group.

Sorry it's a little late again. People were busy again. >////<

So now that Konami has more than likely squirted out its last "real" game before moving on to a future of shitty mobile ports, I will turn my attentions away from them for now and onto a new target.

This week: Nintendo! Nintendo doesn't like people posting "Let's Play" videos of their games on Youtube. Of course, for a substantial amount of your potential profits made from your videos, Nintendo can be persuaded to look the other way >.> riiight...

Well in keeping with their war against the Internet and the Fair use Act, Nintendo has decided to target a new kind of evil: ROM Hack Speed runs. Not so fast, pal! No one can get Link up those steps THAT fast! You are clearly cheating! Yeah it's kind of like that. Any video featuring user generated Mario levels (i.e. The Asshole Mario series), speed runs, or other uses of Nintendo's properties, are not subject to the same restrictions that normal Let's Play videos are. That being said, the aforementioned "partnership" that Nintendo offers, doesn't seem to be extended to videos of this type.

With Super Mario Maker just recently released, a game that let's you build custom Mario levels, this is quite a "coincidence".

In possibly better news, Nintendo have named Tatsumi Kimishima as the new president of Nintendo. He will be the fifth president of Nintendo. Kimishima officially begins his new roles on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. Satoru Iwata is a touch act to follow, may he rest in peace. Let's see if Mr. Kimishima is a bad enough dude!

anime
by @Nanashi

This might just be my favorite news of the week.
Remember Owari no Seraph? That one anime I once claimed had the best smug waifu of 2015? It's getting the second season that I've been waiting for. More than that, it starts airing on October 10th! If you don't know it, I'll just suggest you watch it instead of reading any synopsis. Oh, and yeah. The opening and ending will be performed by fripSide and Nagi Yanagi respectively. Hype!

The last Monogatari?
October 3rd. What will happen then? A new Monogatari season, called Owarimonogatari ("story of the end"), will start airing. For those of you who aren't familiar with Bakemonogatari, it's a series of really artsy anime revolving around an ex-vampire, Araragi Koyomi, who goes around helping people with the things possessing them. If nothing else, it's worth watching just for the original visual suite and story (also how wisely the dialogues are used). And the signature neck snaps. You can see the trailer here. Owarimonogatari is the last novel of the series, so that might mean it's the last one to get an anime adaptation.

It's been a while.
Remember Under the Dog? That Kickstarter-funded anime aspiring to be the soul successor of Akira or Ghost In The Shell? It's officially slated for release for spring 2016. And they changed a bit of stuff in comparison to the earlier trailer, so if you want to see the new one, go here.

Now, this is interesting.
What will people ever come up with on the topic of old good magical girls? Turns out, the darker the setting, the better for the anime, as Madoka once proved. An anime adaptation of Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku has been green-lit. What will it be about? I'll let the synopsis speak for myself.

Quote:The novels are set in a world where a social game called The Magical Girl Raising Project allows one in tens of thousands of people to be a "magical girl" — possessing extraordinary physical capabilities and looks, as well as special magical powers that set them apart from the rest of the human race. But one day, in a district containing 16 magical girls, the administration announces that it must halve the number of magical girls to solve the problem of magical energy. At first, the 16 magical girls race to collect more "magical candy" than their competitors, but the rules quickly become twisted, and it quickly becomes a murderous battle for survival among them.

Issue #6: Madeon
Hugo Leclerc, better known by his stage name as Madeon, is a 21 year old french electronic musician who began his journey to fame with his mashup of 33 hit songs in the timespan of 3 and a half minutes. The video immediately gained millions of views and as of today still sits at just over 31 million. Madeon went on to release numerous singles afterwards such as "Icarus", "Finale", and "Cut the Kid". Years afterwards in late 2014 Madeon announced that he would be releasing a full-scale LP. He gave out the album name "Adventure". Adventure was eventually released in late march of 2015 and contained 18 songs from the young prodigy, including his past singles. Reviews were well with critics such as Pitchfork rating it a 7.8/10 and Spin stating that "Adventure exposes the unavoidable give-and-take between pleasure and pain, the loss and (yes) adventure of youth. When the two come crashing together, sometimes the result makes it worth the struggle. Your feet may agree.". We can be sure that we'll see more and more as the young prodigy goes on with his adventures.

Apple iPad Pro announced with Apple Pencil and a Smart Keyboard
theverge.com Wrote:After months of rumors and speculation, the iPad Pro is here. Apple has unveiled its latest addition to the iPad tablet lineup during a special press event in San Francisco this morning. Like the rumors suggested, the iPad Pro is a larger version of the traditional iPad. Apple CEO Tim Cook says it's the "biggest news in iPad since the iPad.”
The new iPad Pro uses a 12.9-inch display (2732 x 2048 resolution with 264 ppi), and makes use of the new split screen app features of iOS 9. The width of the iPad Pro is the same as the height of the iPad Air 2. "It can do things that a smartphone doesn’t do because it doesn’t have to sit in your pocket," says Apple's Phil Schiller. Apple is using the same technology from its iMac with Retina 5K display to bring the iPad Pro pixels to life. "For the first time in an Apple display, it has a variable refresh rate," explains Schiller. This means Apple can slow the display down and save battery.

Should anyone give a shit? Hell no. Apple just made a fuckin iPencil. I wonder what's going to come next. The iPaper? In all seriousness, Apple is trying to be the “innovative leader”. It's not working. Look at Sony, they made a 4k bluray player.

Canon's prototype VR headset.
tweaktown.com Wrote:According to attendees, Canon's new VR display has a 120-degree FOV (field of vision) with "very clear visuals" and a three-layer optical lens system per eye. The display is quite unconventional, sporting two legs that serve as handholds rather than a strap to fit upon your head. It looks a lot like a high-tech VR version of the older viewfinders you see near monuments in metropolitan cities. The device streamed a 5-minute loop of high-res footage shot by Canon cameras in 5600 x 2800 resolution, which basically transported viewers into a living virtual world.

Right now details are slim on Canon's VR prototype and we're not sure if it supports 360-degree head-tracking or what kind of specs are running under the hood, but it's still amazing to see the camera giant step into the ring. VR and photography naturally compliment one another and it'll be amazing to see what kinds of things the company cooks up in the next few years with this new magical tech.

Source

It looks like the DSLR giant Canon has stepped up the plate with their own VR headset. The thing is has a 2.5K display and must be held with your hands. Massive performance means massive weight. I'm interested in how this proof-of-concept will bring other companies out into the VR world.

AquaComputer Announces Kryograpics Radeon R9 Nano Water Block
techpowerup.com Wrote:AquaComputer announced one of the first full-coverage water blocks for the Radeon R9 Nano, the Kryographics R9 Nano. This single-slot thick block made of copper, with an acrylic top (opaque brushed aluminium top option also available), covers almost the entire area of the incredibly compact PCB of the R9 Nano, its coolant channel passes over both the GPU and VRM areas of the card. Pre-orders for the card will begin on Friday (11/09), the block will be available the following week.

Source.

This news bit is short and sweet. The users of the R9 Fury X finally have a waterblock available! AquaComputer stepped up and came out with a block BEFORE the waterblock giant EK. Impressive? Very impressive. I'd love to see some kickass all AMD systems with the waterblocked Fury X.

Google Fiber wants to offer gigabit service in three new cities
arstechnica.com Wrote:Google is working with local officials in three more cities to plan potential fiber builds. Irvine, California, Louisville, Kentucky, and San Diego, California, are now among the cities that will get Google Fiber if they can set up a feasible plan with Google.

“We’ll work with Irvine, Louisville and San Diego to conduct a detailed study of factors that affect construction, such as local topography, housing density, and the condition of existing infrastructure," Google said in its announcement today. "Meanwhile, cities will complete a checklist of items—such as providing a map of utility lines—that will prepare them for a large-scale fiber build."

Source.

GAHHHH. Google is at it again and is thinking of adding Google Fiber to some more USA cities. Are you living in one of these cities? If you are, you are one lucky ass animal. I hope I live the day that USA is completely wired in fiber.

DesuForums has merged into Lewd! Read more about it in this thread

Lewd changes:
  • Profile backgrounds are working again

Upcoming changes:
  • Making the quotes alert people, and removing the old quote option from the postbit completely.
  • A new theme. I'm scrapping my flat design and instead have a nicer idea in mind (just gotta commission a decent artist to bring it to life).
  • Moar dakka (aka some pretty intense speed optimisation)
  • A complete UX/layout rework. I plan on making Lewd easier to browse for everyone, with a focuses on interactions between one another, and quality content.
  • After a little bit of work, I'll be adding the "today's top poster" plugin that I was going to release with the new theme, but I guess it could be released sooner.

I have a lot ready to roll out over the next week, hype?

Some nice threads:
Daily activity has gone back up pretty nicely, it slowed over the weekend, but that's pretty understandable. c:

Nintendo never really like anyone playing on their games on YouTube, iirc they had a big deal with removing videos a few years prior.

I'm pretty excited about this week's anime news all around. I've caught up with Owari no Seraph's manga, so that'll be something to look forward to. A kickstarter anime series sounds interesting enough, and the survival genre is gonna flip over on its head with magical girls as it's theme for this show.

I've heard that Google Fiber isn't really that worth it, but I guess that depends on where you live. I wish I was lucky enough to have Google Fiber nearby.

Also that Under the Dog anime, I'm hyped for that shit!
