I tend to be really picky since there's only a few genres of anime that I like so it takes me a long time to choose another anime to pick up after finishing one off. How many of you struggle with the same problem?

Genres I enjoy
  • Demons
  • Supernatural
  • Super Power'ish
  • Vampire

@Yus
It's quite opposite for me. I'm having most fun with movies or series that are somehow different from what I'm used to.
Although over the top action never fails to entertain me.

I have trouble watching something with lack of action.

I don't have that problem, i usually apply the 4 episode rule. If it doesn't pick up or pick my interest after it, then i drop it.

Me, I'm just plain lazy rather than picky. Oftentimes, unless I'm absolutely and completely enthralled by a series, I'll let it linger in my watchlist with days, weeks, even months between episodes.

Action is nice, but what really does it for me is the writing. Hell, the premise could be the most inane thing in the entire world, but so long as the dialogue is interesting and the episodes imaginative, I'll be hooked till the very end.

Elusive as it is, authentic voice acting is also a great luxury. English dubbing's gotten a lot better over the last ten years, but the two standouts in my mind are Haganai and Panty and Stocking. Both of those shows had characters that talked like native English speakers; complete with idioms, slang, and plenty of swearing.

Honestly, I watch whatever goes. I tend to be picky when it comes to actually starting the anime I tagged, but other than that I have no problems. If it's ordinary, I'll swallow it, if it's great, I'll review it for TSR, if it's god damn awful it'll land in TMC. Nothing more, nothing less.

I like comedies, adventure, horror, and psychological. Of course within these genres there are a lot to choose from, so I find that I'm more overwhelmed with too many options than unable to find something

Similar to how I handle things but it's usually like 3 tbh lmao.

Really picky when it comes to actually watching an anime genre, but I do get most of the animes I watch "the benefit of the doubt" such like @Nanashi with his TMC/TSC. When a friend gives me a recommendation, I at least try to complete 50/60 percent of the episode line up. If I don't enjoy it, I stop watching it.

Of course, there's cases of instadropping like those formuliac ones of "Dude who is the only dude who can do shit aside of women and his childhood friend, the loli, the princess and the bombshell give him teh succ" like jfc can you be more creative than your daily wank session for once?

Eh, even those can be enjoyable imho. Given any formula, it all depends on the execution.

I get picky with genre depending on my mood, but I like anime from all genres.

I'd rather watch a good anime from a genre I don't care for than a bad anime from a genre that I usually like.

Also, OP has some seriously edgy mallgoth taste.

Yeah, but if execution is poor, you can often be sure if given series is absolute garbage after ~5min.

tbh excecution is crucial but jeez, seven of them? I like harems when the mc is retarded or a total pushover but overpowered shinji clones like kirito or the dude from highschool dxd are just plain friggin boring to me

More like, evil, action packed taste.
