I'm an upper sixth form student from Wales, in the UK.

I'm interested in libre electronic music production, GNU/Linux and artificial intelligence; the latter being something I'm not particularly well versed in but hope to be.

My favourite non-H mangaka is Asano Inio and my favourite H/ecchi is URAN.

My favourite Anime Director is Yuasa Masaaki, though most of what I watch presently pertains to the "cute girls doing cute things" genre. I'm also quite fond of the SciAdv series.

I play piano to a reasonably high standard and am learning Common Lisp, if that's of any interest.

I hope to get along with you, if possible.

What I work on tends to be avant-garde or (dark-)ambient, though admitedly, rarely ever finished.

Ah another person being shafted by the exam-boards and the legacy of Michael Gove :P
I'm from Surrey and currently in lower sixth.

Welcome to lewd, there will be many people here who share your interests.

I'm currently learning Haskell, my first purely-functional langauge, in the hope that it will teach me something new. I've only played with common lisp for an afternoon, but i'm passable at reading basic examples.

hey. <3
it would be nice to hear your music someday if you're comfortable sharing it. most of the music i listen to and make tends to be drone/avant-garde stuff these days. what software do you use for music production? i have to admit i'm still on renoise which is proprietary.

Roses are red.
Violets are blue.
There are a lot of things in there about which I don't have a clue.
What I do know is that I hope for your time here to be good.
You will probably achieve some 'wood'.

Nice to hear you've taken an interest in libre software and GNU/linux.  You might be interested in the Dyne:bolic distribution endorsed by the Free Software Foundation with 100% free software.  Coding is not something I've been good at and finding good Lisp books or tutorials that suit a beginner to the language I haven't found yet.

Nice to have you here.  Good luck!

Have a good day!

I'd certainly continue with functional programming if I were you. Being aware of LISP and capable of implenting procedures via recursion will be increadibly helpful next year when it comes to getting offers next year (or at least it was for me, even with my elementary understanding)

I would happily share my works on the relevant threads/forums should I produce any I have sufficient confidence in to do so.
I mostly use Ardour and the plugins that ship with the fedora jam group package, though I am quite reliant on my hardware synths. Renoise is quite great (not that I've used it to it's full potential), and its license isn't awful despite its nonfree nature.

You're quite right on the availibility of texts on LISP. I'm currently studying from a book by W. Richard Stark, which I've found to be not at all beginner oriented (which is not that useful in my case, as it's my first language). This actually makes it quite enjoyable though as going through the exercises ends up with you creating base tools (i.e. a list sorting function) via independent thought. I may have ended up lost if I didn't have so much spare time to think about the problems and wasn't interested in these topics from a mathematical basis already though.

I'll definitely keep learning Haskell. I've always been appreciative of functional techniques such as recursion, immutability and first-class functions when programming in other langauges, but I never really understood what functional programming actually was until I read a great article a week ago. So I realised I needed to go deeper and thought learning Haskell would help.

Heyo!
I have no idea what libre music is.

I assume these concepts are already really basic to you if you've dipped into the topic a bit, but I think you'd like this playlist. My favorite is the clickbait-titley Deadly Truth of General AI.

Welcome to the forums, and see you around!

In reality, all he's doing is pushing the same buttons he always has, nothing has changed. The longer he spends here, the more invested he gets, the more he forgets which life is the real one.
