To quote Wikipedia:

wikiped Wrote:French house is a style of house music originally produced by French artists, a popular strand of the late 1990s and 2000s European dance music scene and a form of Euro disco. The genre has also been referred to as "French touch", "filter house" and "tekfunk" over the years. The defining characteristics of the sound are heavy reliance on filter and phaser effects both on and alongside samples from late 1970s and early 1980s American or European disco tracks (or original hooks strongly inspired by such samples), causing thicker harmonic foundations than the genre's descendants. Most tracks in this vein feature steady 4/4 beats with a tempo range of 110–130 beats per minute.
Celebrated and successful purveyors of this music include Daft Punk, Cassius, The Supermen Lovers, Modjo, Etienne de Crécy and Justice.

I got into this recently after I listened to some DJ Falcon and early Thomas Bangalter stuff.

400 btw until the old count returns

Thomas Bangalter is pretty great. I'm not massively experienced in music but I know enough to say that the French are miles ahead when it comes to a lot of genres of music for sure, obviously French House being the primary. Their exploration of the genre throughout the years has kept the music sounding fresh and it's pretty timeless. You can listen to some classic French house and doesn't sound a day old. Everyone knows the old 'Music Sounds Better With You' single that I absolutely adore. I'm definitely not as into French House as I used to be but I'll happily listen to it any day.

I pretty much only know about the genre because of Daft Punk. That said, I like it in small to medium doses (unless it's Daft Punk, then large doses are fine).

In reality, all he's doing is pushing the same buttons he always has, nothing has changed. The longer he spends here, the more invested he gets, the more he forgets which life is the real one.

Justice is another pretty solid band. Their first album 'Cross' was really cool. Their second album had some awesome singles as well. They're pretty mainstream but they're still really solid if you're looking for some perhaps less funky and more intense French House.
