This is my favorite manga genre by far, I just love seinen/shounen manga that are set way back in the past.
Some of my favorites are Feng Shen Ji, Kingdom, Blade of the Immortal, Vinland Saga, Vagabond, Samurai Deeper Kyo, Shin Angyo Onshi..

Which ones do you like, and maybe I can get some new ones to read. :)

Yeah I'm pretty sure Naruto was a non-fiction manga.  :ohisee:

Well I guess Inuyasha for some part:

Before screaming despite beeing a fictionl animu it's heavily inspired by the Edo period mythology wich is one of my interests.

And besides that god damn it I don't remember the name but it's prettyfun storytelling japan history through the most adorable characters: cats.
oh yeah Neko Neko Ninonshi!!!

Welp I finally got around to reading Berserk (had been putting it off for some reason) and it might just be my favorite historical manga. I mean, it is historical right?

Does the Fate/stay series count as historical in at least some aspect. Because I loved their implementation of historical figures with some very historically accurate details and some creative twists like with Alexander the Great or King Aruthur(ia)

There are next to no "historical manga" in the world. Berserk is not a "historical manga", it is inspired by historical events, but then again so are most manga these days. (No matter how abstract.) That being said, Berserk does a great job at showcasing how the world was during the Middle-Ages.

Technically, Sengoku Basara is inspired by historical events. Given that it features magical lightning attacks and Oda Nobunaga as the literal Demon King of the Sixth Heaven however, I don't think it oughta count...

Rurouni Kenshin for me. Loosely based off real events during Japan's Meiji era with the Tokugawa shogunate and the Shinsengumi.

Well Naruto is based of legends, historical events and inspired by real life people and events. Does that make it a historical manga? No.

Isn't that show, like, animated propaganda for the JSDF?

Gate isn't exactly what I'd classify as historical.
