I actually like the classic shounen style of anime. It's cliche, yes, but it's still really fun to watch for me.
The powerups and watching the main character get stronger throughout the show is fun.

Not to say that I don't enjoy all other genres as well.

Aw man, that's too difficult a question. >-< Any genre can be amazing if done well, and it's too difficult to pick a favorite.

Yes, I also like classic fantasy battle shonen or seinen genres because it is cool to see the moves, attacks, and powers of the characters. It is even better If they have different character transformations as well such as Bleach with bankais, vollstandig, etc., DBZ with Super Saiya, One Piece with Devil Fruits transformations, etc. It is because they are so different from what we see on our normal lives and they are also unique from authors to authors. I think the reason why shonen genres is the most popular is because kids really love putting themselves as the cool characters with cool transformations and unique special moves.

Also, the comedy, romance, and the struggle/philosophy of shonen genres are closer to my taste compared to let's say more gloomy genres or romance-oriented genres.

I pretty much enjoy shounen, seinen and yaoi genres. It's not that I don't watch shoujo or josei animes but I'm picky with the storyline and characters since these anime/manga genres tend to appeal more to the emotion. Growing up, plots with action scenes and brash characters interest me more than tear-jerky types.

Mecha's fersure. Anything with mecha's usually peak my interest... though anime like Aldnoah Zero can go die in a hole.
The Evangelion series and Gundam are some of my favorites

It's on my list... I don't know how I feel about the premise tbh. Sounds like ZOIDS.
