Does anyone else repeatedly start over their games?

I have this weird problem where I'll play a game for a couple hours each day, then lose interest after a while. When I get back to the game, I've pretty much forgotten what's going on with the story, what I was working on progressing before, where I need to go, etc. Then I just say "fuck it" and start over from the beginning. This is especially true for Minecraft, Dark Souls, Pokemon, Final Fantasy, or pretty much any RPG. I don't know why either, it's like OCD or something. I guess I just feel more immersed in the beginning of games, because if I don't stay dedicated to it then I'll just forget the important parts when I get back to it later.

Anyone else ever experience this?

I only restart on games that don't have a story.

Done this sooooo much on Skyrim. Always until the mods make it unplayably unstable.

I got like 300-400 hours on my skyrim profile but I've never finished the game. I wanted to finish all the side quests and shit before and eventually got bored after 200+ quests completed.

This is on xbox soo I haven't added any mods or anything.
_______________

Games I have beated repeatedly would be... when I was a kid with my pokemon games fire red and ruby kinda liked to do speed runs and shi, nuzlocke runs etc. Another one was Final Fantasy Tactics A2

And a game I played 3 times now would be Mass Effect Trilogy best game in the history

I'm not really the video game type.

It's so great how the only game I've done this on is Skyrim.

And maybe the Sims.

When you replay it, what do you do differently?

No, never. All that "hard work" would be in vain.

I do this on quite a lot of games. Admittedly they're usually a specific type of game but I'm a perfectionist so if something goes wrong early on then reset inbound.

Feel free to PM me if there is anything I can help with!
Also if you just want to talk I'm always available.

I only ever do this on jrpgs with an evil and a good path, when I realise I missed shit I start from the beginning and to play by walkthrough, if I miss something again I start over again, rinse and repeat.

I did this so much on Skyrim and Starbound. Max leveled 2 accounts on both games. Good times... good times...

I have this problem as well, particularly with rpg's. I always want to try out different character builds and unfortunately this usually prevents me from finishing a game for a very long time.

That's precisely the reason why I don't usually play multiple games at once. I start game X, finish it, then go for the game Y. There're exceptions to this Golden Rule, though. For example, when one game is very short, like 10h.

I'll only restart a game if I've finished it and want to try again or if I've missed something really important.

I do this exact thing in skyrim, I will always start a new game, get sort of far, then I get bored and stop playing. I'll later feel like playing again months later but have no idea what was going on or don't like my character anymore so I just start over. I wish I didn't do this because then I'd like open word RPGs a lot more.

Only because I can never make up my mind on what I want to do in the game :/ I don't like it though it's a waste of my time ;c

Give or take a few years and I can even play Infamous/Infamous 2 one more time because I don't even remember any of the storyline until something in the game triggers my memory.

I have good brain

I replayed replayed Spore a shit ton of times back in 2009, but in retrospect the game doesn't seem that good.
