Do you like buying anime and manga physically, or digital versions?

Pretty recently I have kind of wanted to support the industry more, the media industry as a whole. I am growing up now I guess and have money of my own so I don't need to be pirating things all the time. So I decided to get subsriptions to everything, so I got Netflix, Crunchyroll, the lot so I can watch it all legally and I feel much better about it :) Although I want to know your stance on supporting the media, like whether or not you really care about paying as you know it won't make much of an impact or that you pay because its easier or just because it clears your conscience, idk. I like everything in the highest quality possible and I like everything about legally obtaining media; but that is not why I made this thread.

I was wondering; do you prefer watching anime online, or buying the dvd's?
I love buying the DVD's, especially if it isn't on crunchyroll or the blu ray includes cool features. But it isn't always the best economic decision, so I don't always. But I do if it isn't on Netflix or Crunchyroll

Do you prefer buying manga eBooks or physically? Same for LN's?
I love physical books, never got around ebooks and stuff

Do you buy anime merch? And why? To support the industry, or because you like the characters? Or both :)
I do it for both tbh

Books, I'll buy. Mostly 'cuz they're cheap, and I hate reading off a screen.

As for anime... While I'd love to support the industry and buy BDs, I'm a total poorfag; and Crunchyroll isn't nearly enough to satisfy my slightly-esoteric tastes (plus I prefer dubs). The way I see it, I'll pay 'em back with interest after I secure a source of disposable income.

I would buy anime on BD, but it's just too damn expensive - so I stick to torrents and XDCC.

I've kinda fallen in love with figures, so I have a few of those, but again, they're pretty expensive.

I don't really read anything - lack of time.

I was wondering; do you prefer watching anime online, or buying the dvd's?:

I usually watch anime online (from a legitimate source like netflix and crunchyroll) and if I like it and I have the cash to support it I'll buy the DVD's/Blu-ray's of the series.

Do you prefer buying manga eBooks or physically? Same for LN's?:

I love buying manga I get 3 manga volumes for like $30 so <3 I hate reading it online though, there is just something off about reading it online and not having the feel of paper in your hands and the smell of paper coated in ink.

Do you buy anime merch? And why? To support the industry, or because you like the characters? Or both:

I rarely will buy anime merchandise however when I do I usually buy it because I like to support the industry, I'll rarely buy some merch just because I like the character.

"From the perspective of others I am part of the world, but when I observe the world from my perspective I am nowhere to be found. To observe is to create perspective. I can never cease to be the point of origin from my perspective. I observe that which is not myself. This is the first principle to find." - Ergo Proxy

I usually buy BDs of series that i like/previously watched so i can revisit them. I recently got Gunslinger Girl and the HD remake is gorgeous.
Manga is usually expensive and oftenly they're imports from Mexico/USA so that doesn't help. I usually read them online or in Crunchyroll.
Figurines are a hassle to get here since the customs are ALWAYS on strike, plus, the mail service is so shitty here that anything not priorital is oftenly stolen. You heard me right, stolen.

I buy them all. I'll go for figures and books primarily.
For the mangas I'll import them and then if they get brought over I'll also support the translation.

Anime on the other hand, I'll only buy series that they bring over if I really enjoyed it and if it came out in BD. But otherwise I don't really bother.

Chile, IIRC. Which is rather surprising.

Fun Fact: There's a law that that frees from any responisbilities on the dudes, supposedly to check on anything that came into the country during Pinochet's regime. You know what's funnier? The regime ended more than 20 years ago.

I like to buy manga if it isn't a series I plan on binging. I read all of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure digitally because, one, it isn't all officially translated, two, there are colored scans available, and three, the USA versions are 20 dollars a book.

Anime I can't afford. There is no doubt about that.

He has no style. He has no grace. This Kong has a funny face.

Hmm... To buy Blu-Rays, or drop two-hundred bucks on a hard drive and pirate literally everything under the sun?

Decisions, decisions.

The answer is figures and posters and other goods

Anything else is a waste of money that could go toward buying those.

I buy light novels and some manga more for decoration of my room. I read and watch all in my machine.

Same, I embraced minimalism a while ago and decided to keep only a single bookcase with my favourite books. The only manga I kept was Girls' Last Tour (mostly because it has become my all-time favourite manga, but also in part because the two-page spreads lose a lot of the impact when viewed on my pocket-sized e-reader)
