I suppose somewhere down the line I started collecting fiction.
I have all the Discworld novels, except 'Unseen Academicals' and 'The Shepard's Crown', and my copies of 'Monstrous Regiment' and 'Lords and Ladies' are a little battered from overuse, so I'll likely pick up those four sometime soon.
Speaking of battered, I have a rather old paperback copy of the Lovecraft anthology 'Necronomicon' which I have read many times over. I like to think that it gives it the proper aesthetic though. I also have an absolutely gorgeously bound 'The "Complete Fiction" of H.P. Lovecraft', though it's not really the complete fiction, being incomplete; it misses Lovecraft's many revisions, which were in many cases all but rewrites (Arkham House's 'The Horror in the Museum and Other Revisions' amply rectifies this) as well as all but one of Lovecraft's collaborations and a couple of his own stories. The 3 other omnibus editions from Arkham House cover this well, as far as I'm aware, but I'm out of pocket for 'The Dunwich Horror and Others', which though redundant through 'Necronomicon' and the inComplete Fiction would be welcome on my bookshelf. I've also been looking at getting other books considered part of the mythos - 'The King in Yellow' is a measly £3 on Amazon at the moment, so that's likely to be my next buy.
I also have paperbacks for all of Douglas Adams' 'Hitchiker's Guide' series ('So Long And Thanks For All The Fish' is probably my favourite among them) and have been looking at getting other books in the Cthulu Mythos, beginning with Derleth's works, as well as some anthologies of Edgar A. Poe's macabre and comic genius, who I've had the pleasure of reading at a local library.
